Job description

HYBRID ROLE, 1 FIXED DAY 2 CHANGABLE - LIVERPOOL

We are Tokyo - a digital agency with offices in London and Liverpool. Our client experience spans the tech, entertainment, automotive and retail industries and includes well known brands such as Google, Harrods, Cisco, Emirates, Volkswagen, BBC and adidas. Currently seeking a full stack developer to add to the team and opening up applications to candidates in Liverpool, Manchester or UK-remote.

Skills sought

PHP (and various frameworks) and of course emerging tech that excites you and us!  Knowledge of CraftCMS and Wordpress would be useful. React Native capabilities again are useful to have but we don't expect candidates to be experts at everything, we like candidates who are able to pick up as they go along, learning on the job etc and taking support/direction from colleagues where necessary.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who can "dive in at the deep-end" and figure things out. Being able to act as a trouble shooter coming in late on a project to assist and contribute further dev support, or as lead developer on new projects.

Diversity is key here, a good all rounder but probably slightly weighted to the backend would suitably fit.

It is expected that candidates can work as part of a team or independently on projects and utilise repositories and be familiar with a CI/CD process. In most cases developers will simply work with repos, setting up local dev copies of sites being worked on and merging branches of code they have created with a "develop" branch which would auto-deploy vi our tools in collaboration with others.

The role is NW based (Liverpool, Manchester and the NW region) and we will also consider UK remote for the right person.

The Company

Based in the UK, we partner with global clients and agencies to help connect with their audience across all digital channels. We need to keep on the edge of the latest tech and be ready to assist our clients achieve their goals. Our resource consists of a mix of employed, contracted and freelancer allowing us to ‘scale up’ and bring in specialist skills where needed.

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years agency experience
  • Working with a range of programming languages - particularly interested in PHP and JavaScript
  • Ability to work in collaboration with others on projects (training on internal tools will be provided)
  • Wanting to expand knowledge and experience ride the curve of changing technology
  • Being prepared to think outside the box - we often receive briefs for things never achieved before, we find a way, its interesting and energetic
